#677 – Anglesey Mining Headgear 2

This is the typology photograph I ended up with. It’s realistically only viewable side on from this side and although I could have wandered on site to get a slightly better view I’m not sure it would have been vastly superior and I like the inclusion of the greenery at the bottom.

It’s a simple modern, design compared to all the other structures I’ve photographed. The lack of ropes would suggest it’s disused but their 2023 annual report on their website reported ‘another challenging year’ but also that:

‘Important geological work has continued throughout the year at Parys Mountain with new exploration drilling into the Northern Copper Zone. We are very encouraged by the results and further work is continuing.’

So there is still clearly some activity going on, just maybe without the services of the headgear at the moment.

There’s a recent BBC News article that covers the proposals here.
